Johnny Depp should be pleased that Playfirst has introduced Pirate Poppers (download free trial here) a Luxor-style game with a pirate theme. This type of "Match 3" game requires the users to shoot a colored cannon ball at long lines of descending balls, with the goal of matching the color of at least 3 of them to make them go away and to score points.
Pirate Poppers (PP) seems to have a faster speed than Luxor, contains 77 levels for each of its 3 different types of gameplay (arcade, puzzle and adventure), offers multiple power ups such as explosive balls which can really change a game strategy, and gives winners pirate treasure they can store in their pirate cave. The graphics are reasonable for this type of game, and the pirate audio does a nice job of matching the theme of the game. Not a massive stretch from previous games in the genre, but enough there to make it worthwhile.
