Funkitron recently released Poker Superstars II (download free trial here), the sequel to last year's best selling poker game. I haven't played the original, and only recently got into poker myself, but PS II is generally enjoyable, especially for a relative novice like myself.
It seems like a minor detail, but the key win here is the addition of well known poker player pictures & profiles (e.g. Johnny Chan, Barry Greenstein) to the game to really make it come alive versus a generic poker simulator. You can also upload your own picture (in my case, I used my Meez) or icon to represent you.
PS II has a ton of options, including the ability to play single tournaments or entire seasons, just like the actual poker circuit. It has a simple interface and the ability to ask for tips on betting strategy, plus you can speed up the action by hitting the space bar. The graphics are effective, but the music and audio seem a little cheesy and quickly get repetitive. Some may feel the overall computer strategy is not realistic enough for experienced users, but I think it works well for novice ones.
Verdict: If you want one poker game, get Poker Superstars II (download here)
