Saints & Sinners Bowling (download free trial here) is the second in the S&S casual game series from Large Animal & Oberon (the first was S&S Bingo). This series is characterized by simple game play with a great cast of colorful characters who comment during the game, and offer up a series of wagers, bowling balls, and "charms" which you can use to either help yourself bowl better or hinder your opponent.
The controls are quite simple here, and although they may not be realistic, it's a lot more fun to try to control the ball after you have thrown it than what happens in real life. There are 3 types of gameplay involved, encompassing 10 different alleys, many of which must be unlocked during the game using money won in various wagers. There is a little bit of strategy involved as you try to decide when and how to use your charms, depending on what your opponent is doing and what the score is, but the game is pretty fast-paced, so you never feel like it's a long wait between rounds. The charms are the key to the game, along with the fun characters, and there are enough of them involved by later rounds that the game feels pretty deep, with the ability to change your strategy each round.
On the downside, there is occasional slowness in the graphics, and some will find the audio to be a little tiresome, but this is generally a clever game. Whether or not there is enough depth to warrant purchasing it after the trial will have to do with a player's interest in doing a lot of bowling.

Since the basic goal is to make as much money as possible, try not to use your charms until there is money at stake during the round or when you need to offset an opponents charms. For example, when a spectator bets $200 that you can't get a strike on that frame, then that's the time to use one of your charms, such as Double Ball. Or if an opponent uses his/her Obstacle charm against you, then it's a good time to use the Ball Enhancer charm to roll right over those cones.
