Toybox Games has produced a Shopmania-type game called Teddy Factory (download free trial here) which offers players the chance to construct plush toys on conveyor belts in a factory, with the goal of assembling enough of them for demanding customers before they fall off the belt and end the game.
As is typical of these games, the speed and complexity of the factory conveyor belt increases with each of the 45 levels in the Quest mode. The layout of the factory changes, power ups are introduced (slow down the line, reverse the line), new types of toys appear, and customers become more demanding for specific types of toys - the player must satisfy them to get the higher scores, or they will disappear, similar to Diner Dash.
There is another game play mode called Survival, where the player plays as long as possible until overwhelmed by a sea of toys. If the player can assemble and ship periodic special-themed toys, a permanent trophy will appear in the Trophy Room, but it doesn't affect the game in any way. The soundtrack is reasonably fun, although a little repetitive, and the graphics are simple and clear, with bright colors. The tutorial could be a little clearer, and there were a fair amount of toy assembly mistakes in the beginning trying to figure out which part was actually attaching to which toy, but the gameplay is simple enough that most can figure it out. All in all, it's a perfectly fine game, but doesn't quite have enough character or new twists to highly recommend it.
Verdict - Not a bad effort, but doesn't bring much new to the genre. Try it here
